Chapter 14 - NOAH REMEMBERS

The doctors said Noah needed rest.

But Daniel knew his son had been carrying a secret for three years.

A secret too heavy for a child.

That evening, Daniel sat beside him.

“Noah?”

The boy opened his eyes.

“Dad?”

Daniel held his hand.

“I need to ask you something.”

Noah became quiet.

“About Mommy?”

Daniel nodded.

Noah looked afraid.

“I don’t like remembering.”

Daniel’s heart broke.

“I know.”

A pause.

“But you’re safe now.”

Noah looked at him.

“Are you sure?”

Daniel swallowed.

“Yes.”

The little boy looked down.

Then he began.

“The night Mommy died
”

Noah’s voice shook.

“I woke up because I heard people fighting.”

Daniel listened carefully.

“I went downstairs.”

His eyes filled with tears.

“Mommy was crying.”

Daniel felt his chest tighten.

“Who was she with?”

Noah closed his eyes.

“Lauren.”

Silence.

“She was yelling at Mommy.”

“What did she say?”

Noah whispered:

“She said Mommy should have signed the papers.”

Daniel frowned.

“What papers?”

“I don’t know.”

The boy wiped his eyes.

“Then another man came.”

Daniel already knew.

“Victor?”

Noah nodded.

“They were angry.”

He looked at his father.

“Mommy saw me.”

Daniel froze.

“She told me to hide.”

Noah’s voice became smaller.

“She said, ‘Noah, listen to me. Don’t trust anyone who says it was an accident.’”

Daniel couldn’t hold back his tears.

Emily knew.

She knew she might not survive.

And she protected their son until the end.

“What happened next?”

Noah looked terrified.

“I heard a crash.”

A pause.

“Then Mommy screamed.”

Daniel held his son tighter.

“What did you see?”

Noah looked toward the window.

“The man from the camera.”

“Victor?”

“No.”

Daniel froze.

“What?”

Noah shook his head.

“Not Victor.”

His voice trembled.

“The other man.”

Daniel felt the world stop.

“The other man?”

Noah nodded.

“He was wearing a silver wolf ring.”

Daniel stood.

A silver wolf ring.

The same symbol on the glove.

The same symbol Richard Vale had worn for years.

Marcus arrived minutes later.

Daniel looked at him.

“It wasn’t Victor.”

Marcus frowned.

“Then who?”

Daniel answered quietly.

“Richard.”

Before they could say more

The hospital lights flickered.

Then went out.

A second later, the emergency alarm started.

Daniel immediately grabbed Noah.

“Someone is here.”

A shadow moved outside the room.

Daniel stepped forward.

The door slowly opened.

And a familiar voice said:

“You should have left the past buried.”

May you like

Richard Vale walked inside.

Holding a gun.
