Chapter 11 - THE WAREHOUSE CONFESSION

The abandoned warehouse stood in the middle of nowhere.

Broken windows.

Rusting metal.

No lights.

No signs of life.

But Daniel knew Noah was inside.

A father always knew.

He stepped through the entrance.

“Noah!”

His voice echoed.

Nothing.

Then a slow clap came from the darkness.

Victor stepped forward.

“Daniel Ashford.”

Daniel’s face turned cold.

“Where is my son?”

Victor smiled.

“Still the same.”

“What?”

“Always protecting everyone except yourself.”

Daniel walked closer.

“You killed Emily.”

Victor’s smile faded.

“You really believe that?”

Daniel stopped.

“What?”

Victor looked around the warehouse.

“Your wife was brilliant.”

He laughed quietly.

“She discovered everything.”

“Then why did she die?”

Victor looked at him.

“Because she trusted the wrong person.”

Daniel’s eyes narrowed.

“Lauren?”

Victor didn’t answer.

That was enough.

Suddenly, Noah’s voice came from upstairs.

“Dad!”

Daniel looked up.

“Noah!”

Victor moved quickly.

“Wait.”

Daniel turned.

“If you take another step
”

Victor pointed toward the stairs.

Daniel stopped.

“You’re threatening my child?”

Victor smiled.

“I’m protecting myself.”

“You murdered my wife.”

“No.”

Victor’s voice became serious.

“I helped cover it.”

The words hit harder than a confession.

Daniel stared.

“What?”

Victor looked away.

“Lauren was desperate. She wanted control of your company. Your money. Your name.”

Daniel’s hands curled into fists.

“She planned Emily’s death?”

Victor nodded.

“But she wasn’t alone.”

A voice suddenly came from behind Daniel.

“Stop talking.”

Everyone turned.

Lauren stood at the warehouse entrance.

Daniel froze.

“You.”

Lauren looked at him.

For the first time, there was no fake smile.

No innocent expression.

Only anger.

“You were never supposed to find that room.”

Daniel stared at her.

“You tried to kill my son.”

Lauren’s face changed.

“He was an accident.”

“No.”

Daniel stepped forward.

“You pushed him.”

Lauren laughed.

“You think that little boy remembers everything?”

Daniel looked at her.

“He remembered enough.”

Silence.

Lauren’s eyes moved toward Victor.

“You told him too much.”

Victor looked annoyed.

“You’re losing control.”

Lauren ignored him.

She looked at Daniel.

“You want the truth?”

Daniel said nothing.

Lauren smiled.

“Emily was going to destroy everything.”

“What did she find?”

Lauren stepped closer.

“The company accounts.”

Daniel froze.

“What?”

“She found what you never noticed.”

Her voice became colder.

“Someone had been stealing from you for years.”

Daniel looked at Victor.

Then Lauren.

“And you blamed Emily?”

Lauren smiled.

“She was going to expose us.”

A noise came from above.

Noah.

Daniel looked up.

Then back at Lauren.

“You hurt my wife.”

Lauren whispered:

“No.”

A pause.

“Your wife hurt herself by refusing to stay quiet.”

Daniel’s eyes filled with rage.

Then suddenly

The warehouse lights turned on.

Police officers surrounded the building.

Lauren’s face changed.

Because behind Daniel
