Chapter 7 - THE HOUSE WHERE SOPHIE WAS SUPPOSED TO DISAPPEAR
Lucas arrived at the house listed in the documents.
The door opened slowly.
Standing there was Rachel.
His late wife’s sister.
Sophie immediately hid behind Lucas.
Rachel looked nervous.
“I can explain.”
Lucas stepped forward.
“You were going to take my daughter?”
Rachel looked away.
“Vanessa promised she would make things easier.”
Lucas couldn’t believe it.
“You knew Sophie was afraid?”
Rachel said nothing.
Inside the house, Lucas found a room prepared for Sophie.
A small bed.
New clothes.
A school schedule.
A new name tag.
Everything was ready.
Like Sophie was being transferred.
Not loved.
Lucas found one more document.
A document proving Vanessa planned to tell everyone Sophie was unstable.
