Chapter 4 - THE SECRET AGREEMENT BEHIND THE MARRIAGE
Lucas refused to leave the church.
Not until he knew the truth.
He called his attorney immediately.
The wedding guests were asked to remain.
Vanessa became nervous.
“Lucas, you’re embarrassing me.”
He looked at her.
“Embarrassing you?”
His voice shook with anger.
“My daughter was locked away before I said my vows.”
Vanessa said nothing.
The attorney arrived thirty minutes later.
He reviewed the documents.
Then he found something hidden.
A financial agreement.
Lucas frowned.
“What is that?”
The attorney looked serious.
“This marriage was connected to your family trust.”
Lucas froze.
“What?”
Daniel looked uncomfortable.
Vanessa looked terrified.
The attorney continued.
“After the wedding, Vanessa would gain access to certain accounts.”
Lucas stared at his bride.
“So this was never about loving me.”
Vanessa cried.
“That’s not true.”
“Then why hide this?”
No answer.
The attorney pointed to another signature.
“This agreement required Sophie to live somewhere else.”
Lucas looked at Daniel.
“Who chose the location?”
