Chapter 10 - THE LETTER FROM SOPHIE’S MOTHER
Lucas opened the letter with shaking hands.
His wife’s handwriting filled the page.
She wrote about Sophie.
About protecting her.
About trusting Lucas.
Then came the final paragraph.
“If anyone ever tries to make you choose between your child and their approval, choose your child.”
Lucas cried.
Because those words were exactly what he needed.
Sophie hugged him.
“Mommy knew you would protect me.”
Lucas held her.
“Yes.”
“I always will.”
But the letter contained one more clue.
A hidden bank account.

A secret file.
And evidence that someone had been stealing money from Sophie’s inheritance for years.
