Chapter 6 - THE WOMAN WHO PRETENDED TO LOVE SOPHIE
Lucas began investigating everything.
Every conversation.
Every message.
Every meeting.
And the truth became worse.
Vanessa had spent months pretending to bond with Sophie.
She bought her gifts.
She read her bedtime stories.
She acted like a loving stepmother.
But behind closed doors…
She complained about her.
A hidden recording revealed Vanessa’s real words.
“She’s the only thing stopping Lucas from giving me everything.”
Lucas listened silently.
His hands tightened.
Sophie was sitting beside him.
She didn’t understand everything.
But she understood enough.
“She didn’t love me.”
Lucas hugged her.
“No, sweetheart.”
“You did nothing wrong.”
Then the investigation uncovered something shocking.
Vanessa had already prepared another home for Sophie.
Not with strangers.
With someone Lucas trusted.
May you like
Someone who had betrayed him before.
His ex-wife’s former sister.
