Chapter 15 - THE SKY IS MINE

My phone buzzed in my pocket.

An email notification.

Subject: Welcome to Stanford Executive MBA Class of 2027.

A quiet smile spread across my face.

I didn't cry.

I didn't call anyone to share the news.

I simply got into the driver’s seat, adjusted the rearview mirror, and started the engine.

The GPS was set for the airport.

As I drove through the iron gates and onto the open highway, I looked up at the vast blue sky stretching out before me.

It was wide, clear, and endless.

Julian had been wrong ten years ago.

My sky was never meant to be trapped inside a house, shared with a man who couldn't see my worth.

My sky was everywhere I chose to go.

And for the first time in my life, I was flying solo.
