Chapter 10 - THE AUCTION OF PAST LIVES

Six weeks later, the court finalized the asset division.

Because of the overwhelming evidence of financial fraud and systematic betrayal, the judge granted me total control of the estate, the businesses, and all personal holdings.

Julian was ordered to pay back every dollar he had embezzled, plus legal fees.

To pay off his debt and avoid a lengthy prison sentence, he was forced to liquidate every luxury item he had acquired during our marriage.

I organized an auction right in the driveway of our estate.

His luxury car, his designer watches, his custom suits, and even his golf clubs were laid out on long black tables.

Local business leaders, spa clients, and neighbors arrived out of curiosity and a desire for cheap bargains.

Julian was forced to stand by the gate with his attorney, watching strangers bid on the life he had built using my money.

Every time the auctioneer’s gavel struck the wood, another piece of his pride was sold off to the highest bidder.

I watched from the second-floor master bedroom window, holding a glass of iced tea.

I didn't feel joy.

I didn't feel hatred.

I felt the quiet, cold satisfaction of a debt finally being paid in full.
