Chapter 15 - THE MAN WHO CHOSE LOVE OVER POWER

The countdown continued.

Ten minutes.

That was all they had.

Maya looked around.

The factory was old.

Rusty pipes.

Broken machines.

One exit.

Locked.

Vincent smiled.

"Your empire ends here, Julian."

Julian looked at him.

"No."

A pause.

"Yours does."

Richard laughed.

"You still don't understand."

"I understand everything."

Julian looked at his father.

"You spent your entire life protecting a name."

He stepped closer.

"But you forgot something."

"What?"

"Names don't matter."

His eyes moved to Maya.

"People do."

The next few minutes moved fast.

Derek managed to free Adrian.

Maya found an old control panel near the wall.

The factory alarms started.

Vincent panicked.

"What did you do?"

Maya looked at him.

"I stopped running."

Those words hit harder than any weapon.

Because Vincent realized something.

The woman he underestimated was no longer afraid.

She was fighting back.

Security arrived.

Police followed.

Richard tried to escape.

But Julian stopped him.

For a moment, father and son stood face to face.

"You would choose her over everything?"

Julian looked at him.

"Yes."

Richard shook his head.

"After everything I gave you?"

Julian's expression became cold.

"You gave me power."

A pause.

"But Maya taught me what to do with it."

Richard was arrested.

Vincent was arrested.

And after eight years...

The truth finally came out.

Months later, the Croft empire changed.

Julian removed every person connected to his father's crimes.

He rebuilt the company.

Not on fear.

On honesty.

Something everyone thought was impossible.

Maya paid off her debt.

Not because Julian gave her money.

Because he helped her create her own bakery.

Her dream.

A small place on Milwaukee Avenue.

The first customer who walked in on opening day was Julian.

Maya smiled.

"You came."

Julian looked around.

"I wouldn't miss it."

She laughed.

"Even the most feared man in Chicago?"

He smiled.

"That man doesn't exist anymore."

"Who are you then?"

Julian reached across the counter and took her hand.

"Someone who finally learned he doesn't have to control everything."

Maya looked at him.

"And what about me?"

He smiled.

"You are still the woman who came home at 2 AM and scared the life out of me."

She laughed.

"I scared you?"

"More than anyone ever has."

The same man who feared nothing.

The same man who made enemies shake.

Was standing there smiling in a small bakery.

Because Maya Torres never changed him.

She simply showed him the part of himself he had buried.

The world knew Julian Croft as a powerful man.

But Maya knew the truth.

Behind the fear.

Behind the empire.

Behind the reputation...

Was just a man who finally found someone worth protecting.

May you like

And someone who chose him back.

THE END
