Chapter 4 - The Family Member Who Wanted Everything

The elevator doors opened.

But nobody stepped inside.

Nobody wanted to move.

Because the message from Evelyn Vale changed everything.

Charlotte stood frozen.

Her own mother had warned her.

About her uncle.

The man who raised her after her father died.

The man who held her hand at the funeral.

The man who told her:

"We will get through this together."

Charlotte whispered:

"Why?"

Alexander looked at her.

"Because power changes people."

Charlotte shook her head.

"No."

Her eyes became cold.

"Greed changes people."

She entered the elevator.

"I want answers."

The elevator doors closed.

But upstairs...

Someone was already watching.

Adrian Vale stood inside his private office.

Looking at the security footage.

Charlotte's return.

The video.

The panic.

Everything.

A man beside him asked:

"What do we do now?"

Adrian stared at the screen.

For months, he believed Charlotte was defeated.

Gone.

Destroyed.

But now...

She was back.

And she knew too much.

Adrian slowly smiled.

"Nothing."

The man looked confused.

"Nothing?"

Adrian turned.

"Let her think she won."

A dangerous silence followed.

"People who believe they have won..."

He smiled.

"Make the biggest mistakes."

Back inside the elevator...

Charlotte felt her phone vibrate.

Unknown number.

One message.

"Your mother died because she trusted the wrong person."

Charlotte stared at the screen.

Another message appeared.

"Don't make the same mistake."

She looked at Alexander.

"Can you trace this?"

He checked the number.

His expression changed.

"What?"

"It's impossible."

"What?"

"This number belongs to someone who died three years ago."

Charlotte felt a chill.

May you like

Someone was playing a much bigger game.

And they were watching her.
