Chapter 1 - The Woman They Threw Away

The entire Solmere Hotel lobby watched in silence.
Charlotte Vale lay on the cold marble floor.
Her palms burned from the rough surface.
Her cheek was still aching from the slap she had received minutes earlier.
Around her stood people wearing expensive suits and diamond jewelry.
People who had spent years pretending to respect the Vale family name.
But today...
They watched the last remaining heir being treated like a criminal.
Victoria Sterling adjusted her white silk gown and looked down at Charlotte with disgust.
"You still don't understand, do you?"
Charlotte slowly lifted her eyes.
"Understand what?"
Victoria smiled.
"That people like you don't get to walk into places like this and pretend you belong."
A few guests exchanged uncomfortable looks.
But nobody moved.
Nobody defended Charlotte.
Because Victoria Sterling was powerful.
Her family controlled half the city's social events.
Her husband was one of the largest investors connected to Solmere.
And everyone believed she was untouchable.
Charlotte pushed herself up.
"I belong here more than anyone in this room."
The lobby became even quieter.
Victoria laughed.
A cold, mocking laugh.
"Really?"
She stepped closer.
"Then tell everyone who you are."
Charlotte stared at her.
She wanted to say it.
She wanted to reveal everything.
That she was Charlotte Vale.
The legal owner of the Solmere Empire.
The woman whose mother had built the foundation of everything standing around them.
But she stayed silent.
Because she was not there to announce herself.
She was there to find the people who destroyed her family.
Six months earlier...
Charlotte Vale had buried her mother.
Evelyn Vale.
The woman who had spent thirty years building the Solmere empire from nothing.
Everyone called her death an accident.
A tragic fall.
A terrible loss.
But Charlotte never believed that story.
Because three days before her mother died...
Evelyn sent her a message.
One sentence.
"Trust no one inside the company."
At first, Charlotte thought grief was making her suspicious.
Then she found the hidden files.
Missing financial records.
Changed ownership documents.
Secret transfers.
Millions disappearing from company accounts.
Someone had been stealing from Solmere.
And someone had been preparing to erase Charlotte forever.
The names she discovered shocked her.
People who had attended her mother's funeral.
People who hugged her.
People who told her they would protect her.
They were all involved.
So Charlotte created a plan.
She disappeared from public view.
Changed her appearance.
Returned to Solmere as an ordinary woman.
She wanted to see the truth with her own eyes.
But she never expected this.
She never expected to be attacked inside her own hotel.
Victoria grabbed her arm again.
"Security."
Two guards immediately walked forward.
"Remove her."
Charlotte looked at the guards.
Both men avoided her eyes.
They knew something was wrong.
But they followed orders.
As they reached for her...
A voice suddenly echoed across the lobby.
"Stop."
Everyone froze.
A man in a dark suit entered through the main doors.
The entire atmosphere changed.
Because everyone recognized him.
Alexander Cross.
The most feared attorney in the city.
And the person who handled the Vale family's legal empire.
Victoria's expression changed.
"Alexander."
He ignored her.
His eyes moved toward Charlotte.
Then toward the guards.
"Take your hands off her."
The guards immediately stepped back.
Victoria forced a smile.
"Alexander, don't tell me you believe this woman."
Alexander looked at Charlotte.
Then calmly said:
"I don't believe her."
A pause.
"I know exactly who she is."
Charlotte's heart stopped.
The entire lobby held its breath.
Victoria laughed nervously.
"And who exactly is she?"
Alexander opened a black folder.
Then looked directly at everyone.
"The rightful owner of this hotel."
Silence.
May you like
Complete silence.
Charlotte Vale had finally returned.
