Chapter 12 - The Enemy Behind the Enemy

Charlotte read the first page.

Her hands slowly tightened.

The documents were not about Adrian.

They were not about Victoria.

They were not even about Solmere.

They were about something much bigger.

A secret group of investors.

Powerful people who controlled companies across the country.

And at the top of the list...

Was one name.

Damian Blackwood.

Charlotte looked at Alexander.

"Who is he?"

Alexander became silent.

That scared her more than any answer.

"You know him."

Alexander nodded.

"Everyone in business knows him."

Marcus stepped closer.

"He built his empire by destroying others."

Charlotte continued reading.

The documents revealed everything.

Adrian was never the mastermind.

He was only a piece.

Victoria was only a tool.

The real plan was to take control of Solmere because of its hidden assets.

Land.

Properties.

Private investments.

Everything Charlotte's mother had protected.

Charlotte whispered:

"My mother discovered this."

Marcus nodded.

"That's why they had to stop her."

A painful silence followed.

Charlotte looked at the screen.

The recording was still playing.

Her mother appeared again.

But this time...

She looked directly into the camera.

"Charlotte."

Everyone became silent.

"If you found this..."

A tear appeared in Charlotte's eyes.

"I know you are probably angry."

Charlotte lowered her head.

Her mother continued.

"But anger will not save you."

"Truth will."

The message ended.

Charlotte wiped her eyes.

Then she looked at Alexander.

"Where is Damian Blackwood?"

Before he could answer...

The entire hotel suddenly lost power.

Darkness.

Again.

Charlotte immediately knew.

"This isn't over."

Emergency lights turned on.

A loud crash came from the hallway.

Someone had broken into the hidden archive.

Marcus looked toward the door.

"They found us."

The door began shaking.

Someone was trying to enter.

Alexander stepped forward.

Charlotte grabbed the evidence.

"No."

Everyone looked at her.

"They spent months trying to erase me."

May you like

She looked toward the door.

"Tonight, they learn what happens when they fail."
