Chapter 5 - THE DOCTOR WHO KNEW TOO MUCH

The next morning, Edward’s mansion was surrounded by security.

No one entered.

No one left.

Victoria sat in the living room, pretending she wasn’t nervous.

But her hands were shaking.

Edward noticed.

“You’re scared.”

Victoria looked up.

“Of what?”

“The truth.”

She smiled coldly.

“You think you can intimidate me?”

“No.”

Edward walked closer.

“I think you already know you lost.”

Victoria laughed.

“You always were arrogant.”

“And you always underestimated me.”

Edward placed a folder on the table.

Inside were copies of every transaction Marcus had found.

Every payment.

Every hidden account.

Every lie.

“You spent years trying to erase Sarah.”

Victoria’s face hardened.

“She was weak.”

Emma gasped.

Edward’s eyes turned cold.

“Be careful.”

Victoria leaned forward.

“She was always in your way.”

Edward clenched his fists.

“You’re talking about my wife.”

“I’m talking about a woman who had everything.”

Victoria’s voice became bitter.

“She had your love. Your company. Your daughter.”

She looked at Emma.

“And I had nothing.”

Emma stared at her.

“You destroyed my family because you were jealous?”

Victoria smiled.

“Because I deserved what she had.”

The confession was almost casual.

Like she had been waiting years to say it.

Then Marcus entered.

“Edward.”

Everyone turned.

“We found the doctor.”

Edward immediately stood.

“Where?”

Marcus hesitated.

“He contacted us.”

“Why?”

Marcus looked serious.

“Because he knows he’s next.”

A video appeared on the screen.

An old man sitting in a dark room.

His face was terrified.

“My name is Dr. Alan Brooks.”

Edward stepped closer.

The doctor continued.

“Twenty years ago, I treated Sarah Hayes after her accident.”

Edward held his breath.

“I was ordered to change the medical report.”

“By who?” Edward asked.

The doctor looked directly into the camera.

Then said:

“Victoria Hayes.”

Emma covered her mouth.

Victoria stood up.

“That’s a lie.”

But nobody believed her.

The doctor continued.

“Sarah was alive when she arrived at the hospital.”

Edward’s entire body went cold.

Alive.

After all these years…

His wife had been alive.

“Where is she?” Edward whispered.

The doctor looked away.

“I don’t know.”

A pause.

Then:

“But I know who took her.”

The screen suddenly went black.

The connection was cut.

Marcus immediately checked the signal.

“Someone found him.”

Edward turned toward Victoria.

But she was no longer standing there.

The back door was open.

She had escaped.

And on the floor beside the door…

was a note.

Three words written in black ink:

ASK YOUR FATHER.
