Chapter 10 - THE BULLET THAT REVEALED THE TRUTH

The sound of the gunshot echoed through the abandoned facility.
For a moment, nobody moved.
Emma screamed.
“Dad!”
Edward turned around.
His heart nearly stopped.
Marcus was on the ground.
Blood spread across his shoulder.
But he was still conscious.
Still breathing.
Edward rushed toward him.
“Marcus!”
Marcus grabbed his arm.
“Don’t worry about me.”
His voice was weak.
“Find out who did this.”
Edward looked up.
Everyone was frozen.
Sarah stood beside Emma.
Victoria was near the doorway.
And holding the gun…
was a man Edward had never expected to see.
His uncle.
Richard Hayes.
The man who had been missing for fifteen years.
Edward stared at him.
“You’re alive?”
Richard smiled coldly.
“Everyone thought I was gone.”
Edward slowly stood.
“But you were hiding.”
Richard walked forward.
“Not hiding.”
He looked around the room.
“Waiting.”
Sarah’s face turned pale.
“No…”
Edward noticed.
“You know him?”
Sarah looked at her husband.
“He was there the night they took me.”
The room became silent.
Edward’s eyes filled with anger.
“You knew?”
Richard laughed.
“You still don’t understand, Edward.”
“Understand what?”
“That your family was never as innocent as you believed.”
Edward clenched his fists.
“My daughter was abused in my own house.”
Richard looked at Emma.
“And she survived.”
Emma stepped back.
“Why are you talking about me?”
Richard smiled.
“Because you are the reason everyone lost control.”
Edward stepped between them.
“Stay away from her.”
Richard ignored him.
“Your father left something behind.”
Edward frowned.
“What?”
“The Hayes inheritance.”
Sarah looked at him.
“That’s impossible.”
Richard smiled.
“Your father hid the original documents before he died.”
Edward remembered the old file.
The hidden records.
The secrets.
Everything connected.
Richard continued.
“Your father created a trust that would only activate when Emma turned twenty-two.”
Emma froze.
“What?”
Richard looked at her.
“You inherited control of half the company.”
Edward stared at his daughter.
All these years…
Everyone had been fighting over his empire.
But the real power had always belonged to Emma.
Victoria stepped forward.
“You promised me the documents.”
Richard looked at her.
“And you failed.”
Edward noticed the tension between them.
“You two were never partners.”
Richard smiled.
“No.”
He looked at Victoria.
“She was just useful.”
Victoria’s face changed.
For the first time…
She realized she had been manipulated too.
Then Richard raised the gun again.
But before he could fire…
Sarah stepped forward.
“Richard.”
Everyone turned.
“You always forget one thing.”
Richard frowned.
“What?”
Sarah looked at Edward.
“He knows how to fight back.”
The next moment…
The entire building went dark.

And Edward disappeared.
