Chapter 11 - THE FALL OF THE PEOPLE WHO BETRAYED HIM

The darkness lasted only five seconds.

But five seconds was enough.

Edward had spent twenty years building his company.

And during those years, he learned one important lesson:

Never underestimate the person who has nothing left to lose.

When the emergency lights turned on, Richard looked around.

Edward was gone.

“Find him,” Richard ordered.

His men spread through the building.

But they didn’t know what Richard didn’t know.

Edward had already studied the building layout.

Marcus had secretly installed security systems before they entered.

And now…

Every movement was being recorded.

Edward sat inside a hidden control room.

Watching everything.

Including Richard.

Including Victoria.

Including the conversation they thought no one could hear.

“You betrayed me,” Victoria whispered.

Richard laughed.

“You were never important enough to betray.”

Her face turned red with anger.

“I helped you destroy Sarah.”

“You helped yourself.”

Victoria stepped closer.

“You promised me power.”

Richard smiled.

“And you believed me.”

Edward watched silently.

Every word was being recorded.

Every confession.

Then Richard said something that made Edward freeze.

“The accident was never about Sarah.”

Victoria frowned.

“What?”

Richard leaned closer.

“The real target was Edward.”

Edward’s eyes widened.

The room went silent.

Richard continued.

“Sarah was just the person standing beside him.”

Victoria looked shocked.

“You never told me that.”

“Because you didn’t need to know.”

Edward felt his hands tighten.

All these years…

He thought Sarah was the victim.

But the truth was worse.

His entire family had been targeted.

Then a small voice came through the communication system.

“Dad?”

Edward turned.

Emma’s voice.

“Where are you?”

“I’m safe.”

She whispered:

“Victoria is helping us.”

Edward froze.

“What?”

The camera switched.

Emma was standing beside Victoria.

The woman who had hurt her.

The woman who had humiliated her.

But now…

Victoria looked broken.

“I made mistakes,” Victoria said through the speaker.

Edward watched silently.

“I thought taking Sarah’s place would make me happy.”

Her voice trembled.

“But I destroyed everything.”

Sarah looked at her.

“You can’t undo what you did.”

“I know.”

Victoria lowered her eyes.

“But I can help stop him.”

Edward watched as Victoria handed Emma a small device.

“What is that?”

Victoria looked at the camera.

“The evidence.”

Edward understood.

She had been keeping insurance.

Proof.

Everything Richard had done.

Richard suddenly entered the room.

He saw Victoria.

He saw Emma.

And he smiled.

“Finally.”

Everyone froze.

Richard looked directly at the camera.

“Edward.”

Edward’s blood ran cold.

Richard knew.

“You really thought you could hide from me?”

He walked closer.

“Come out.”

Silence.

Then Richard smiled.

“Or I’ll make your daughter pay for your mistake.”

Edward stood.

The decision was immediate.

He stepped out of the shadows.

“Leave her alone.”

Richard pointed the gun.

And for the first time in twenty years…

May you like

Edward faced the man who destroyed his family.
