Chapter 10 - The Interrogation

Marcus led me down into the observation room behind Interrogation Bay B.

Through the two-way mirror, I could see Michael sitting alone, his pristine designer shirt rumpled and stained with sweat.

He was staring at his cuffed hands, his cool, confident demeanor completely shattered.

Detective Collins walked into the room, tossing a thick blue folder onto the table in front of him.

"Your sister-in-law just signed a full confession, Michael," Sarah lied smoothly.

Michael flinched, his bloodshot eyes snapping up to look at her.

"Evelyn didn't sign anything," he stammered, his voice weak and raspy. "She wouldn't."

"She did," Sarah insisted, tapping the folder.

"She put the entire murder plot on you. She claims you tampered with Anna’s brakes two years ago."

Michael’s face drained of color, turning a pasty, sickly gray.

"That lying bitch!" Michael spat, slamming his cuffed hands onto the metal table with a loud clang.

"It was her idea! She told me Anna found out about the offshore accounts! She said if we didn't eliminate Anna, we'd both die in prison!"

In the observation room, Marcus turned to me and gave a curt, solemn nod.

We had the full murder confession recorded on high-definition federal video.
