Chapter 13 - THE LAST PIECE OF THE TRUTH

The countdown echoed through the mansion.

00:10

Every second felt like a heartbeat.

Gabriel ran through the dark hallway toward the foundation room.

The room where the Whitmore family kept its oldest secrets.

The room nobody was allowed to enter.

The room that could finally prove everything.

Behind him, alarms screamed.

Security officers shouted.

But Gabriel heard only one thing.

His mother’s voice.

I’m not losing my son again.

“Move!”

He pushed through the security team and reached the massive steel door.

The lock was already damaged.

Someone had prepared this.

Someone had planned every move.

Gabriel entered.

The room was filled with old documents, family records, photographs, and sealed boxes.

The history of the Whitmore family.

The truth hidden for generations.

Then he saw it.

A small wooden box sitting on the table.

His name was written on it.

GABRIEL.

His hands trembled as he opened it.

Inside was a letter.

And an old photograph.

The photograph showed three people.

Daniel Whitmore.

Elena.

And a baby.

Gabriel.

He picked up the letter.

The handwriting was his biological father’s.

My son,

If you are reading this, it means the people who tried to erase you failed.

You were never a mistake.

You were never a secret.

You were the future I wanted to protect.

Gabriel’s eyes filled with tears.

Daniel continued:

The Whitmore family has been built on power for too long. But power without honesty becomes poison.

If anyone tries to take your name away, remember this:

You are not your inheritance.

You are not your money.

You are the person you choose to become.

A loud explosion shook the mansion.

The countdown reached:

00:03

Gabriel looked around desperately.

Then he found another document.

The original inheritance agreement.

The one proving Elena was the rightful heir.

And another document.

A confession.

Signed by Lydia.

Everything was there.

Every lie.

Every betrayal.

Every crime.

The countdown reached:

00:01

Gabriel grabbed the documents and ran.

The explosion never came.

Because at the last second…

Someone stopped it.

When Gabriel returned to the main hall, he saw Lydia on her knees.

The remote was gone.

And standing in front of her was Elena.

“Mom?”

Gabriel froze.

Lydia looked up.

“You…”

Elena’s face was full of pain.

But also strength.

“You spent fifteen years trying to destroy me.”

Lydia laughed weakly.

“And you still forgive people.”

Elena shook her head.

“No.”

She looked at her sister.

“I don’t forgive what you did.”

A pause.

“But I refuse to become like you.”

The police entered.

Lydia was taken away.

For the first time in fifteen years…

The Whitmore family secrets were no longer hidden.

But Gabriel knew one thing.

There was still one person who had not answered for everything.

May you like

His father.

Richard.
