Chapter 5 - THE TRAITOR AT THE DINNER TABLE

The mansion went into lockdown.
Every door was sealed.
Every employee was questioned.
Nobody was allowed to leave.
But somehow…
the person who had been watching Leo was still inside.
That was the part nobody wanted to admit.
Alessio gathered everyone in the dining room.
The house staff stood in a line.
The chef.
The driver.
The security team.
The house manager.
Everyone.
I stood beside Alessio.
Not because I trusted him.
Because Leo was upstairs.
And because someone wanted me gone.
Alessio looked at his employees.
“Someone in this room tried to hurt my son.”
Nobody spoke.
The fear was obvious.
Then the house manager stepped forward.
“Mr. Romano, this is impossible.”
Alessio looked at him.
“Why?”
“Because we all love Leo.”
A cold smile crossed Alessio’s face.
“People say that right before they betray you.”
The room became silent.
Then the security chief spoke.
“Boss, there’s one thing.”
Alessio turned.
“What?”
“We recovered part of the deleted camera footage.”
Everyone froze.
“How?”
The officer looked at me.
“The nanny was right.”
I felt every eye turn toward me.
The officer continued.
“The footage wasn’t deleted.”
Alessio frowned.
“Then what happened?”
“It was replaced.”
A chill ran through the room.
Someone had planned everything.
Someone knew the security system.
Someone knew the nursery.
Someone knew Leo’s routine.
The officer handed Alessio a tablet.
The recovered footage played.
The nursery appeared.
Leo was sleeping.
The clock showed 1:57 AM.
Then the door opened.
Everyone leaned closer.
A person entered.
Covered in dark clothing.
Face hidden.
The figure walked toward the crib.
Then stopped.
The screen froze.
Alessio looked furious.
“Enhance it.”
The officer tried.
The image became clearer.
Slowly.
The hood moved.
The face appeared.
And everyone in the room gasped.
Because the person standing beside Leo’s crib…
was someone they all knew.
Someone Alessio trusted.
Someone who had been in that house for years.
Alessio whispered:
“No…”
May you like
The screen revealed the truth.
And then the lights went out again.
