Chapter 15 - THE LAST BREATH OF THE ROMANO ENEMY

The man standing in the chapel looked exactly like a ghost.

Seven years.

Everyone believed he was dead.

But there he was.

Standing in front of Alessio.

Alive.

Smiling.

“Marco.”

Alessio’s voice was filled with disbelief.

His brother tilted his head.

“You sound disappointed.”

“You tried to kill my son.”

Marco laughed.

“No.”

He looked at Leo.

“I tried to take back what was stolen from me.”

I stepped forward.

“What was stolen?”

Marco looked at me.

“You really don’t remember everything.”

I felt anger rise.

“I remember enough.”

He smiled.

“Good.”

The truth came out piece by piece.

Marco had spent years planning his return.

He believed the Romano empire belonged to him.

He believed Alessio had taken everything.

The power.

The respect.

The family.

And when Leo was born, he saw the child as the final obstacle.

The last person between him and control.

“You almost killed a baby for money?”

Alessio’s voice was full of disgust.

Marco shook his head.

“For power.”

“That’s worse.”

For the first time, I saw Alessio not as a feared mafia boss.

But as a father.

A father who was done running.

Marco raised his weapon.

But before he could move, Dominic fired.

The gun fell from Marco’s hand.

Guards rushed in.

The battle ended quickly.

But the damage was already done.

Later that night, the Romano mansion finally became quiet.

The hidden rooms were sealed.

The cameras were removed.

The lies were exposed.

Marco was arrested.

Sofia disappeared into witness protection.

And Victoria finally confessed her role in the conspiracy.

But the person who changed the most was Alessio.

The man who once trusted nobody…

learned to trust again.

Weeks later, I stood in the nursery watching Leo sleep.

The same baby who almost died.

The same baby who changed everything.

Alessio walked in.

For a moment, neither of us spoke.

Then he smiled slightly.

“I owe you more than I can repay.”

I looked at him.

“You almost shot me.”

He lowered his head.

“I know.”

A small smile appeared on my face.

“You definitely owe me.”

He laughed quietly.

The first real laugh I had ever heard from him.

Then he looked at Leo.

“He saved me too.”

I frowned.

“What?”

Alessio touched his son’s tiny hand.

“Before Leo, I only knew how to fight.”

He looked at me.

“You reminded me how to protect.”

Months later, the world knew a different story about Alessio Romano.

Not the ruthless businessman.

Not the man people feared.

But the father who stood against his own family to save his child.

And as for me…

I never expected that one night in a dark nursery would change my entire life.

I entered the Romano house as a nanny.

A stranger.

Someone nobody trusted.

I left as the person who exposed the greatest betrayal the family had ever faced.

Because sometimes…

the smallest things reveal the biggest lies.

A tiny blue bead.

A hidden camera.

A baby’s cry.

May you like

And one person willing to stand between danger and an innocent life.

THE END
