Chapter 4 - The Stranger’s Warning
The person outside disappeared before Daniel reached the door.
But Daniel knew one thing.
Someone inside the house was protecting the secret.
The next morning, the stranger requested to speak with him.
Daniel entered the interrogation room.
The man looked different now.
Less confident.
More desperate.
“My name is Victor Hayes.”
Daniel stared at him.
“Why were you inside my house?”
Victor looked down.
“Because your wife needed me there.”
Daniel clenched his fists.
“Are you saying she invited you?”
Victor nodded.
“But you don’t know the whole story.”
Daniel laughed bitterly.
“My daughter found you hiding in my home.”
Victor leaned closer.
“Your wife wasn’t hiding me from you.”
Daniel narrowed his eyes.
“Then who?”
Victor looked toward the mirror.
His face became serious.
“Someone who wants your family destroyed.”
Daniel said nothing.
