Chapter 8 — Billy's Unexpected Question
Chapter 8 — Billy's Unexpected Question
Lawrence found Billy outside the building.
The boy was sitting beside Irene.
Lawrence stopped.
Billy looked up.
"Are you still mad at my mom?"
Lawrence didn't answer immediately.
"No."
Billy tilted his head.
"Then why did you talk mean to her?"
That question hurt more than anything.
Because it came from a child.
A child who only understood kindness.
Lawrence finally whispered:
"I forgot."
Billy looked confused.
"You forgot what?"
May you like
Lawrence looked at Irene.
"That everyone matters."
