Chapter 20 - THE NEW DAWN

Six months later.
The summer sun shone brightly through the massive floor-to-ceiling windows of the top-floor executive suite.
The grand ballroom of the Vance Estate had been completely renovated.
The cold, ostentatious golden trimmings had been replaced by sleek, modern, elegant designs.
Hundreds of high-society guests, international press reporters, and corporate leaders filled the hall.
Music filled the air.
Champagne sparkled in crystal glasses.
Standing on the elevated stage at the front of the room were two identical women.
They both wore stunning, custom-tailored white evening gowns.
Their hair was styled identically.
They both bore a small, faint, elegant scar on their left cheeks—a scar they had deliberately chosen to keep.
Isabella stepped up to the podium, looking out over the crowd.
"Six months ago," Isabella spoke clearly into the microphone, "This room was defined by a lie."
"It was defined by arrogance, cruelty, and the illusion of perfection."
"A mother attempted to erase her own child to protect a fake reputation."
The crowd listened in complete, respectful silence.
Seraphina stepped up right beside Isabella, leaning into the second microphone.
"Today," Seraphina continued, her voice commanding and calm, "We celebrate not the perfection of a family..."
"But its truth."
"Victoria Vance and Julian Vance were sentenced yesterday to thirty years in federal prison without the possibility of parole."
"The secrets that built this empire have been laid bare to the world."
"And from those ashes, we have built something real."
The crowd erupted into a long, thunderous applause.
Reporters snapped thousands of photos, capture the iconic image of the twin sisters standing united at the top of the financial world.
Later that evening, after the guests had departed, Isabella and Seraphina walked out onto the private balcony overlooking the vast city lights.
The cool night breeze swept over them.
Isabella reached into her small clutch bag and pulled out the old silver pocket watch.
She opened it.
The faded black-and-white photograph of the two little girls holding hands rested safely inside.
Isabella looked over at Seraphina.
"Do you ever wonder what would have happened if you hadn't come to the party that night?" Isabella asked softly.
"If you hadn't spilled that champagne?"
Seraphina smiled, looking out at the glittering skyline below.
"I would have found another way to slap you, sister," Seraphina teased lightly.
Isabella laughed—a genuine, warm laugh that echoed into the night.
"I'm glad you did."
Seraphina reached out and took Isabella's hand.
They stood shoulder to shoulder, looking out over the city they now ruled together.
No longer a victim.
No longer a proxy.
No longer separated by lies.
May you like
They were sisters.
And their story was just beginning.
