Chapter 16 - THE PRISON HEIST

The rain was falling in torrential sheets outside the Central Police Precinct.
The atmosphere inside the holding facility was grim and sterile.
Victoria Vance sat on a metal bench inside a private interview room.
Her hands were cuffed to a heavy iron ring embedded in the table.
Her makeup was smudged, her luxury suit crumpled and ruined.
She looked twenty years older than she had twenty-four hours ago.
The heavy steel door of the interview room buzzed and clicked open.
A woman walked into the room wearing a sleek dark rain cape, her face obscured by a large black umbrella and thick sunglasses.
She closed the umbrella and set it against the wall.
She pulled off her sunglasses.
It was Isabella.
Victoria looked up, her bloodshot eyes instantly filling with desperate hope.
"Isabella!" Victoria cried out, straining against her handcuffs.
"My sweet girl! You came!"
"You have to get me out of here! My lawyers aren't answering!"
"That crazy girl... Seraphina... she took everything!"
Isabella walked slowly toward the table.
She didn't speak.
She pulled out a small, high-definition handheld scanner from her leather bag.
"Isabella? What is that?" Victoria asked, her smile slowly fading into confusion.
"Why aren't you saying anything?"
Isabella leaned across the metal table, grabbing Victoria by her chin with a firm, merciless grip.
"Hold still, Mother," Isabella said in a completely emotionless tone.
"Isabella! What are you doing?!" Victoria panicked, trying to pull her head back.
"Get your hands off me!"
"Hold still!" Isabella commanded, her voice cutting like a razor.
Isabella raised the small digital scanner directly to Victoria's right eye.
A bright red laser line scanned across Victoria's iris.
BEEP.
BIOMETRIC SCAN COMPLETE.
DATA ENCRYPTED AND SENT.
Victoria stared at her daughter in absolute terror.
"What did you just do to me?!"
Isabella released Victoria's chin and stepped back.
She looked down at her phone screen.
A green notification flashed: IRIS MATCH CONFIRMED. BANK VAULT AUTHORIZED.
"Thank you, Victoria," Isabella said, her voice completely cold.
"Your eighty million dollars has just been recovered."
Victoria's jaw dropped in sheer disbelief.
"You... you lied to me?!"
"You're working with her?!"
"You threw your own twin sister into a dark facility to bleed her dry," Isabella said, her eyes flashing with pure hatred.
"You don't get to talk about loyalty."
"You monster!" Victoria shrieked, thrashing violently against her chains.
"I raised you! I gave you everything! You are nothing without me!"
Isabella picked up her umbrella and put her sunglasses back on.
She walked to the door and tapped twice on the glass panel.
The buzzer sounded, and the heavy door unlocked.
Before stepping out, Isabella stopped and looked over her shoulder.
"Happy Birthday, Mother," Isabella whispered.
"From both of your daughters."
She walked out of the room, leaving Victoria screaming hysterically into the empty, cold dark.
Outside the precinct, Marcus was waiting in the running black sedan.
"Did it work?" Marcus asked as Isabella slid into the passenger seat.
Isabella showed him her phone screen.
"The vault is unlocked."
"Seraphina is already at the central bank waiting for the digital transfer."
Marcus hit the gas, sending the car speeding through the rain-soaked streets.
"We have two hours before the midnight default deadline," Marcus said.
Suddenly, a massive heavy transport truck blew straight through a red light from a side street.
May you like
It slammed violently into the side of their sedan.
The terrifying sound of crushing metal echoed through the night.
