Chapter 7 - THE ABDUCTION

Emily collapsed against the wall.
Arthur grabbed her shoulders.
“We're getting her back.”
“You said that before!”
Emily shoved him away.
“She was safe with me!”
Arthur didn't defend himself.
Daniel ran toward the hallway.
“We found a camera.”
They examined the footage.
A figure wearing a security uniform entered the room.
He carried Lily.
The man's face was hidden.
But Arthur recognized his walk.
“That's impossible.”
“Who?”
“My head of security.”
Daniel looked stunned.
“He was killed two years ago.”
Arthur stared at the screen.
The figure turned toward the camera.
For one second, his face became visible.
Arthur whispered one word.
“Victor.”
Emily's anger exploded.
“You let him into the estate!”
Arthur said nothing.
Because she was right.
Victor had infiltrated everything.
The company.
The police.
The security team.
Perhaps even Arthur's own family.
Then Samuel spoke.
“There is only one place he would take her.”
Arthur looked at him.
“Where?”
“The warehouse.”
The same warehouse where Sarah disappeared.
They drove through the night.
Inside the warehouse, Lily sat tied to a chair.
Victor stood in front of her.
“You're a brave little girl.”
Lily stared at him.
“You're mean.”
Victor laughed.
“Your mother probably told you never to talk to strangers.”
“She did.”
“And yet you trusted Arthur.”
Lily said nothing.
Victor leaned closer.
“Do you know why everyone ignored that old man?”
Lily looked at him.
“Because they didn't care.”
Victor smiled.
“Exactly.”
He placed the envelope on the table.
“Do you know what's inside?”
Lily shook her head.
Victor opened it.
A small metal key fell out.
Victor's smile disappeared.
“Where did you get this?”
“Mr. Sterling gave it to me.”
Victor grabbed the key.
“What does it open?”
“I don't know.”
Victor slammed his hand onto the table.
“Where is Ethan?”
Lily stared at him.
“I don't know who Ethan is.”
Victor's eyes narrowed.
Then headlights appeared outside.
Victor's men rushed toward the windows.
Arthur had arrived.
The warehouse doors exploded open.
Daniel and the security team stormed inside.
Gunfire erupted.
Arthur ran toward Lily.
“Get down!”
Victor disappeared through a side door.
Arthur reached Lily and cut her restraints.
Lily immediately hugged him.
“You came.”
Arthur closed his eyes.
“I promised.”
Then Emily rushed inside.
She grabbed her daughter.
For one moment, everything was quiet.
Then Samuel shouted.
“Arthur!”
Arthur turned.
Samuel was holding a document.
His face was white.
“Victor didn't come here for the key.”
Arthur looked at him.
“Then what did he want?”
May you like
Samuel pointed at Lily.
“He came because he finally realized the girl knows where Ethan is.”
