Chapter 10 - SARAH RETURNS

Sarah walked into the abandoned warehouse alone.

Victor waited.

“You're late.”

Sarah ignored him.

“Where is my daughter?”

Victor smiled.

“You still call her that?”

“She is my daughter.”

“You gave her away.”

“To save her.”

Victor stepped closer.

“You failed.”

Sarah's expression hardened.

“No.”

“She found Arthur.”

“She was supposed to.”

Victor frowned.

Sarah smiled.

“You never understood the plan.”

Meanwhile, Arthur, Emily, and Daniel followed an encrypted signal.

It led them to the same warehouse.

Arthur entered first.

Sarah stepped out of the darkness.

He froze.

“Sarah?”

She looked at him.

“You finally remember me.”

Arthur couldn't speak.

Emily rushed forward.

“My sister…”

Sarah hugged her.

For several seconds, neither woman spoke.

Then Emily pulled away.

“Why didn't you come home?”

Sarah's eyes filled with tears.

“Because I was told you were dead.”

Emily froze.

“What?”

Sarah explained.

Victor had manipulated everyone.

He had staged Sarah's disappearance.

He had convinced Emily that Sarah had died.

He had convinced Sarah that Emily had been killed.

For fifteen years, both sisters had mourned each other.

Victor had kept them apart.

But Sarah had never stopped investigating.

She had hidden Lily with Emily because she knew Victor would search the Sterling family.

Lily had grown up safe.

Until the day she gave Arthur her burger.

Sarah looked at her daughter.

“I'm sorry.”

Lily ran into her arms.

“Mommy?”

Sarah broke down.

She held Lily tightly.

Arthur watched silently.

Then he noticed something.

Sarah wasn't afraid of Victor.

She wasn't surprised by the attack.

She knew exactly what was coming.

Arthur asked:

“What are you hiding?”

Sarah looked at him.

“The truth about your father.”

Arthur's expression changed.

“My father was not the mastermind.”

“Then who was?”

Sarah looked toward Victor.

Victor's smile disappeared.

Sarah said:

“Your mother.”

Arthur froze.

“My mother died twenty years ago.”

Sarah shook her head.

“No.”

She reached into her coat.

She pulled out a photograph.

An elderly woman stood beside Victor.

Arthur stared.

His entire body went cold.

The woman was his mother.

Alive.

And standing behind her was a young version of himself.

Arthur whispered:

“What did she do to me?”

Sarah answered:

May you like

“She didn't erase your memory.”

“She replaced it.”
