Chapter 14 - THE LAST BOARD MEETING

Arthur walked outside.

His mother stood beneath the headlights.

She looked older.

But her eyes were exactly the same.

“Hello, son.”

Arthur stared at her.

“You destroyed my life.”

“I protected you.”

“You erased my brother.”

“I protected the family.”

“You tried to erase Lily.”

“I protected the company.”

Arthur shook his head.

“No.”

His mother looked at Lily.

“She was never supposed to exist.”

Sarah stepped forward.

“You mean she was never supposed to inherit.”

Arthur's mother smiled.

“You always were clever.”

Victor raised his weapon.

Daniel immediately aimed at him.

The tension froze the entire mountain.

Then Arthur's mother said:

“Bring me the girl.”

Arthur stepped between them.

“No.”

His mother sighed.

“You always were sentimental.”

She pressed a button.

A screen appeared.

Live footage from Sterling Global headquarters.

The board was assembled.

Every shareholder was watching.

Arthur realized what she intended.

She wanted the final transfer recorded publicly.

His mother spoke into the camera.

“Arthur Sterling is no longer fit to lead this company.”

Victor stepped forward.

“The rightful management will now be restored.”

Arthur looked at the cameras.

Then he smiled.

“You made one mistake.”

Victor frowned.

“What?”

“You forgot that everyone is watching.”

Arthur pulled out his phone.

The screen showed a live broadcast.

Millions of people were watching.

Every confession.

Every threat.

Every piece of evidence.

Sarah's testimony.

Victor's recordings.

Arthur's mother's confession.

Everything was being transmitted.

Victor's face turned white.

“No.”

Arthur looked directly into the camera.

“My family spent twenty years being silenced.”

“Tonight, everyone gets to hear the truth.”

Police sirens echoed in the distance.

Victor tried to escape.

Daniel tackled him.

Arthur's mother was arrested.

But she smiled.

“You think you've won?”

Arthur looked at her.

“What else do you have?”

She leaned closer.

“One thing.”

Arthur froze.

“What?”

She whispered:

“Michael isn't Lily's father.”

Everyone stopped.

Sarah's face went pale.

Michael looked confused.

Arthur stared at his mother.

“Then who is?”

She smiled.

“Ask Sarah.”

Arthur turned.

Sarah was crying.

She finally whispered:

May you like

“I lied.”

The entire world seemed to stop.
