Chapter 6 - THE TRUTH INSIDE THE SECRET ROOM

The old Viscari mansion had been abandoned for years.
Adrian rarely went there.
Too many memories.
Too much pain.
But now we stood inside it.
Searching for answers about me.
That felt impossible.
I followed Adrian down a dark hallway.
His guards moved ahead.
Checking every corner.
The house felt like it was holding its breath.
“This place belonged to Elena?”
I asked.
“Yes.”
“What happened here?”
Adrian stopped.
“She disappeared from my life here.”
My chest tightened.
“You mean the night she died?”
He nodded.
“I was told she was killed in a car accident.”
“But?”
“But I never saw her body.”
I looked at him.
“What?”
His face was full of anger.
“They gave me a funeral. They gave me ashes. They gave me a story.”
He looked around.
“But I never believed it.”
We reached a hidden door behind an old bookshelf.
One of his men opened it.
Inside was a small room.
Dust covered everything.
Photos covered the walls.
And then I saw it.
My breath stopped.
Pictures.
Hundreds of them.
Elena.
My mother.
And me.
A little girl.
A child.
Me.
I stepped closer.
“No…”
Adrian watched my reaction.
“You recognize it.”
I shook my head.
“I don’t.”
But my body did.
Because I felt something.
A memory.
A smell.
A voice.
A woman singing.
Elena.
The woman in the picture.
My hands touched one photo.
A little girl sitting beside Elena.
The same eyes.
The same smile.
A note was written behind it.
“Protect her until the truth comes out.”
My fingers trembled.
“Why would my mother hide this?”
Adrian picked up another document.
Then his expression changed.
“Mara.”
I looked at him.
“What?”
He handed me the paper.
It was a birth certificate.
My name was on it.
But the mother’s name…
Was not my mother.
I stared.
My entire body went numb.
Because written there was one name.
Elena Viscari.
I looked at Adrian.
“No.”
He didn’t speak.
Because neither of us knew how to say the impossible.
The woman who died two years ago…
Was the woman who gave birth to me.
Then suddenly…
A gunshot echoed through the mansion.
Everyone moved.
Adrian grabbed my hand.
“Stay behind me.”
Another shot.
Then another.
The lights went out.
Darkness swallowed the room.
I heard shouting.
Footsteps.
Someone moving closer.
Then a voice whispered from the darkness:
“Mara…”
I froze.
Because I knew that voice.
It was the same voice from the phone call.
The same person who stole my mother’s box.
The same person who knew the truth before I did.
“You finally found out who you are.”
Adrian raised his gun.
“Show yourself.”
A man stepped into the moonlight.
And when I saw his face…
I understood why everyone had been afraid of the past.
Because the man standing there…
Was wearing the same dragon tattoo as Adrian.

And he said:
“Hello, sister.”
