CHAPTER 4 – THE MISSING PHONE

CHAPTER 4 – THE MISSING PHONE
Police returned to my parents' house with a warrant.
My mother's phone had disappeared.
Bethany claimed she had never seen it.
My father insisted it had been stolen.
Then an officer searched Bethany's car.
Inside a shopping bag...
They found the phone.
Its screen had been smashed.
Its memory partially erased.
A digital forensic specialist smiled.
"Broken doesn't mean gone."
Hours later...
Deleted messages began returning.
One text froze everyone.
Bethany had written,
May you like
"If he fights back...
call the psychiatrist first."
