Chapter 5 - The Footage That Changed Everything

Our mansion had security cameras everywhere.

At least…

That was what I thought.

I opened the security system.

The camera history loaded.

January.

February.

March.

Then I noticed something.

Several days were missing.

Entire sections had been deleted.

Someone had erased the footage.

But not all of it.

One camera remained.

The hallway camera.

I clicked the file.

The video started.

The timestamp showed two weeks earlier.

I watched my children walking down the hallway.

They looked happy.

Then Vanessa appeared.

The moment she entered the room…

Their smiles disappeared.

I felt my hands shake.

The video had no sound.

But I didn’t need sound.

I could see fear.

I could see Ethan stepping backward.

I could see Lily grabbing her brother’s hand.

Then Vanessa pointed toward the laundry room.

The children followed.

Slowly.

Terrified.

I stopped the video.

I couldn’t watch anymore.

But I had to.

Because this was evidence.

I continued.

Hours later…

The children came out.

Their faces were different.

Broken.

I covered my mouth.

Then another file appeared.

A hidden folder.

Created by someone else.

The name was simple.

“Proof.”

I clicked it.

Inside were dozens of videos.

Not from my cameras.

Someone had secretly recorded inside my house.

The first video showed Vanessa yelling.

The second showed her threatening the children.

The third showed something that made my entire body freeze.

Vanessa was talking to someone on the phone.

She was smiling.

She said:

“Michael will never know.”

I paused the video.

Who was she talking to?

Then I played the next one.

And I saw the person on the other side of the conversation.

My heart stopped.

Because it was someone I knew.

Someone I trusted.

Someone who had been inside my home many times.

The screen froze.

And I whispered one name.

May you like

“Impossible…”

Because Vanessa wasn’t working alone.
