Chapter 3 - The Family Enemy

By sunrise, I had made my decision.
The war had already started.
The only difference was that my enemies didn’t know I was ready.
I entered the Vale Global headquarters at 8:00 a.m.
The entire building went silent.
Executives stopped talking.
Assistants moved aside.
Everyone knew something had changed.
Because I was not walking into the office as CEO.
I was walking in as Luca Vale’s brother.
Mateo followed behind me.
“Are you sure about this?”
I stopped outside the boardroom.
“Yes.”
“What if Victor knows?”
I looked at the closed doors.
“Then he knows exactly what I want him to know.”
I entered.
Every member of the Vale Council was already seated.
Including Victor.
My uncle looked surprised.
Then he smiled.
“Sebastian.”
His voice was calm.
“Unexpected.”
I sat across from him.
“No.”
I placed the photograph of Luca and Emma on the table.
“This meeting is thirteen years late.”
Victor’s smile disappeared.
The room became silent.
“What is this?”
I leaned forward.
“My brother’s daughter.”
Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
Victor stared at the picture.
For the first time in my life…
I saw fear in his eyes.
And that confirmed everything.
“You knew.”
My voice was quiet.
Victor slowly looked at me.
“You don’t understand what you’re doing.”
I smiled coldly.
“No.”
I placed the encrypted drive on the table.
“I understand exactly what I’m doing.”
The council members exchanged nervous looks.
Victor’s expression changed.
“Where did you get that?”
From his reaction alone…
I already had my answer.
“You’re afraid of a dead man’s evidence.”
Victor stood.
“You have no idea what Luca was involved in.”
I stood too.
“Then explain it.”
Silence.
Victor looked around the room.
Nobody spoke.
Because everyone was waiting.
Waiting to see if the most powerful man in the Vale family would finally tell the truth.
Instead, Victor said something I never expected.
“Your brother wasn’t killed because he discovered a secret.”
He looked directly at me.
“He was killed because he was about to destroy this family.”
My eyes narrowed.
“Then why are you scared of his daughter?”
Victor said nothing.
And that was when I knew.
The truth was closer than ever.
But before I could continue...
Every screen in the boardroom suddenly went black.
A message appeared.
One sentence.
Written in white.
THE HEIR HAS RETURNED.
Everyone froze.
Then another line appeared.
AND THE VALE FAMILY WILL BLEED AGAIN.
The lights shut off.
And somewhere inside the building...
May you like
Someone started shooting.
