Daniel finally admitted the truth.
Before their wedding, Victoria had forced him to sign a family agreement.

Emily stared at him in disbelief.
“You signed something that controlled our marriage?”
Daniel lowered his head.
“My mother said it was just protection.”
Emily laughed bitterly.
“Protection?”
She looked at Victoria.
“No. It was control.”
Victoria stepped forward.
“You don’t understand our family.”
Emily shook her head.
“No.”
She looked at Daniel.
“I understand perfectly.”
