Emily slowly walked toward Victoria.
The guests expected anger.
A fight.
Tears.
Instead, Emily remained calm.
She placed her bouquet into Victoria’s hands.
Victoria looked confused.
“What are you doing?”
Emily looked directly into her eyes.
“Giving you what you wanted.”
The words made the entire courtyard silent.
Then Emily removed her wedding ring.
Daniel’s smile faded.
“Emily, stop.”
But she didn’t.
She gently placed the ring inside the flowers.
“This ring belongs to a marriage where two people choose each other.”
Her eyes moved toward Daniel.
“But you already made your choice.”
The guests gasped.
Daniel stepped forward.
“Emily, you’re overreacting.”
She looked at him.
“No, Daniel.”
Her voice was quiet.
“I’m finally seeing clearly.”
She turned around.
And walked away.
