The monitor changed.

His fingers moved.

The nurses rushed inside.

He stopped at the doorway.
Afraid.
Because he didn’t know if he still had the right to be there.
Noah’s eyes opened.
His vision was blurry.
His lips barely moved.
“Mommy…”
Claire broke down.
She kissed his forehead.
“I’m here.”
Then Noah looked toward the doorway.
He saw Daniel.

“Buddy…”
