Chapter 3 - THE WOMAN WHO WANTED MY BABY ERASED

The next morning, Adrian did something nobody expected.
He canceled every meeting.
Every interview.
Every public appearance.
The billionaire who normally controlled every second of his schedule disappeared from the business world.
And he stayed with me.
But I knew something was wrong.
Because Adrian wasn’t just angry.
He was searching.
And powerful people only searched when they were afraid of what they might find.
“I need you to tell me everything,” he said.
We were sitting in his private office.
The same office where important business deals worth millions had been signed.
But that morning, the most important thing in the room was a folder filled with evidence against his own mother.
“I told you everything.”
“No.”
He looked at me.
“You told me what happened to you.”
He placed another file on the desk.
“I need to know what happened before that.”
I looked down.
And for the first time, I told him everything.
The comments.
The threats.
The way Beatrice told employees I was temporary.
The way she warned me that nobody would believe a maid over a Vale.
Adrian listened without interrupting.
But every word made his expression darker.
Then I told him about the night before the gala.
The night Beatrice came into my room.
“She said if I didn’t leave…”
I stopped.
Adrian leaned forward.
“What?”
I swallowed.
“She said accidents happen.”
His face went completely still.
“What kind of accidents?”
“I don’t know.”
But we both knew.
And that was the worst part.
Before Adrian could answer, his lawyer entered the room.
Daniel Reed.
One of the best corporate attorneys in the country.
He looked serious.
“Adrian, we found something.”
Adrian stood.
“What?”
Daniel placed photographs on the desk.
Security images.
My heart stopped.
The pictures showed someone entering the estate’s medical archive room.
The person was wearing a coat.
But the face was visible.
Beatrice Vale.
“She accessed the records herself,” Daniel said.
Adrian stared at the images.
“When?”
“Two weeks ago.”
The same week she found out about the pregnancy.
I felt sick.
Adrian picked up another document.
“What else?”
Daniel hesitated.
That hesitation scared me more than anything.
“Say it.”
Daniel looked at him.
“Your mother also transferred money.”
“To who?”
Daniel placed another paper down.
A private investigator’s payment record.
Adrian’s eyes narrowed.
“Who was she investigating?”
Daniel looked at me.
Then back at Adrian.
“Emma.”
The room went silent.
My heart started racing.
“She hired someone to follow me?”
Daniel nodded.
“For almost a month.”
I felt a wave of fear.
Not because I had done anything wrong.
But because I finally understood.
Beatrice wasn’t reacting to my pregnancy.
She was planning around it.
She had known.
She had prepared.
She had built an entire strategy to remove me.
Adrian walked toward the window.
For several seconds, he said nothing.
Then he spoke.
“My mother didn’t want you gone.”
I looked at him.
“She wanted something else.”
“What?”
He turned around.
His eyes were filled with anger.
“She wanted control.”
A message suddenly appeared on Adrian’s phone.
Unknown number.
He opened it.
And his face changed.
“What is it?”
He handed me the phone.
The message contained only one sentence.
“If you want to know who the baby’s real enemy is, look inside your own house.”
Below it was a photo.
A photo taken from inside the Vale estate.
A photo of me sleeping.
My blood turned cold.
Someone had been watching me.
Someone inside the house.
Adrian immediately called security.
But before anyone answered…
The lights in the entire estate went out.
Darkness swallowed the room.
May you like
And somewhere in the hallway…
A woman screamed.
