Chapter 14 - THE PERSON BEHIND EVERYTHING

Nobody spoke.

The name on the screen stayed there.

A person we never suspected.

A person who had been watching from the shadows.

A person who had benefited from every lie.

Adrian stared at the screen.

“No.”

Daniel looked confused.

“This can’t be right.”

But the evidence was there.

Records.

Payments.

Hidden accounts.

Years of manipulation.

The person behind Richard Vale’s secrets wasn’t Richard.

It wasn’t Beatrice.

It wasn’t Ethan.

It was someone who had been cleaning up the damage for years.

Someone who had made sure nobody discovered the truth.

Adrian turned slowly.

“Victor.”

The room went silent.

Victor Vale.

The uncle who arrived pretending to help.

The man who always appeared calm.

The man who knew everything.

Ethan laughed quietly.

“Finally.”

I looked at him.

“You knew?”

He nodded.

“He used all of us.”

Beatrice closed her eyes.

“I should have known.”

Adrian looked furious.

“Explain.”

Ethan looked at him.

“Your father built the empire.”

He pointed toward the documents.

“But Victor controlled the secrets.”

Victor had not wanted power publicly.

He wanted something more dangerous.

Control.

He had collected information on everyone.

Every mistake.

Every weakness.

Every secret.

And when Richard died, Victor became the person quietly moving everything behind the scenes.

Daniel checked his phone.

Then suddenly froze.

“What?”

He looked at Adrian.

“Victor transferred ownership of several companies this morning.”

Adrian’s face changed.

“He’s taking control.”

A notification appeared.

A message from Victor.

You were always too emotional to lead this family, Adrian.

Then another message.

Your father understood that power belongs to those willing to do what others cannot.

Adrian crushed the phone in his hand.

“We need to stop him.”

But before anyone could move…

The factory lights shut off.

Again.

Darkness.

A familiar tactic.

Then Victor’s voice came through the speakers.

“I expected better from all of you.”

My blood turned cold.

He was here.

Somewhere.

“Victor!”

Adrian shouted.

A slow laugh echoed.

“You always thought you were the hero, Adrian.”

The lights came back.

Victor stood on the upper floor.

Calm.

Perfectly dressed.

Like he was attending another charity event.

But this time, nobody was fooled.

“You destroyed my family.”

Adrian stepped forward.

Victor smiled.

“No.”

He looked around.

“I saved this family.”

I felt anger rise.

“By hurting everyone?”

Victor looked at me.

“Your mother was weak.”

The words made my entire body tense.

“She believed truth mattered.”

He smiled.

“That was her mistake.”

Adrian moved.

But security blocked him.

Victor had brought his own people.

Then Victor looked at me.

“The necklace.”

My heart dropped.

“You still have it.”

He knew.

He knew about the evidence.

“You’re afraid of what’s inside.”

Victor smiled.

“No.”

He walked closer.

“I’m afraid of what people will do when they learn the truth.”

Then he looked at Adrian.

“Especially you.”

A silence followed.

Then Victor revealed the final piece.

“Your father didn’t die naturally.”

Adrian froze.

“What?”

Victor smiled.

“He was killed.”

Everyone stopped breathing.

“By who?”

Victor looked directly at him.

“By the person your father trusted most.”

A pause.

Then he said:

“Your mother.”

Beatrice gasped.

“No.”

Victor smiled.

“And she hid the evidence.”

Adrian looked at Beatrice.

Everything stopped.

Because suddenly…

May you like

The woman who protected us…

Was also accused of the one crime that could destroy everything.
