Chapter 3 - THE MAN WHO REMEMBERED THE SONG

By the time we reached the medical wing, three doctors were already inside.

The room that had been silent for weeks was suddenly full of movement.

Phones ringing.

Medical equipment being checked.

People whispering.

But everyone stopped when they saw Mia.

She was standing beside me, holding her rabbit.

Confused.

“Mama?”

I knelt.

“It’s okay.”

Then I looked toward the bed.

Lorenzo Moretti was awake.

His eyes were open.

Not fully.

Not strongly.

But open.

And they were fixed on one person.

My daughter.

The doctor looked shocked.

“Mr. Moretti?”

Lorenzo slowly moved his lips.

Everyone leaned closer.

His voice was weak.

Barely a whisper.

But we heard him.

“Who…”

He swallowed.

“Who is she?”

Nobody answered.

Mia stepped forward.

“I’m Mia.”

The room went completely still.

Lorenzo looked at her.

Then at the rabbit in her arms.

And something strange happened.

A small tear appeared in the corner of his eye.

I noticed.

Everyone noticed.

The powerful Lorenzo Moretti...

was crying.

The doctor asked everyone to leave.

But before I walked out, Lorenzo spoke again.

“Wait.”

Everyone stopped.

His eyes remained on Mia.

“The song…”

My heart skipped.

“What song?” the doctor asked.

Lorenzo struggled.

“The song…”

He closed his eyes.

“I heard it before.”

Nobody moved.

Isabella looked at me.

I looked back.

Because suddenly I understood.

This wasn’t just about Mia helping a stranger.

Something connected them.

Something nobody knew about.

That night, Isabella searched through old family records.

Elena reviewed every medical report.

Doctors tried to explain what happened.

But nobody had an answer.

Except Lorenzo.

Because when he finally spoke again, he said something that changed everything.

A sentence that made Isabella drop the papers in her hands.

A sentence that would uncover a secret buried for years.

“I know that song…”

He whispered.

May you like

“Because Mia’s mother used to sing it to me.”
