Chapter 3: The Woman He Lost

Daniel's hands shook as he continued reading.

The letter was dated two years earlier.

The day Sarah disappeared from his life.

"I never abandoned you. I never abandoned Leo. They took him away from me."

Daniel stopped breathing.

His eyes moved faster.

Every sentence destroyed another piece of the reality he had built.

Sarah explained everything.

How Martha had threatened her.

How Elena had secretly contacted her.

How they convinced Daniel that Sarah only wanted his money.

How they manipulated every situation until Daniel believed Sarah was the villain.

But the worst part was the final paragraph.

"I left because I was told that if I stayed, I would lose Leo forever. They said Daniel would never believe me."

Daniel slowly lowered the letter.

His eyes filled with disbelief.

"Is this true?"

Everyone looked at Martha.

The woman who had always presented herself as the perfect mother.

The woman who claimed she only wanted to protect her son.

But now...

She couldn't hide.

"I did what I had to do," Martha whispered.

The ballroom erupted.

Daniel stared at her.

"You destroyed my family."

Martha shook her head.

"No. I saved you from a woman who wasn't good enough for you."

Daniel laughed bitterly.

A broken laugh.

"She was the mother of my child."

Then he turned toward Elena.

"And you knew."

Elena's face changed.

The mask finally cracked.

"I loved you."

Daniel looked at her with disgust.

"No."

His voice was cold.

"You loved what I could give you."

Elena's eyes filled with anger.

"You think Sarah was innocent? She wasn't. She didn't belong in your world."

May you like

Daniel stepped closer.

"Neither did you."
