Nathan still refused to believe what he was seeing.
"You said your father was an accountant."
"I was."
Jonathan answered calmly.
"I also founded Blackwood Strategic Holdings."
Celeste frowned.
"The investment group?"
"The one that owns half the infrastructure projects across Europe?"
Jonathan nodded.
"And the remaining half through subsidiaries."
Nathan staggered backward.
"No..."
"That's impossible."
"It isn't."
One of the investigators stepped forward carrying several thick folders.
"We have warrants for fraud..."
"Tax evasion..."
"Money laundering..."
"Corporate bribery..."
"Wire fraud..."
"And conspiracy."
Nathan forced himself to laugh.
"My lawyers will bury this."
Jonathan smiled faintly.
"They already resigned."
Another investigator placed a tablet on the table.
Live television filled the screen.
Breaking news banners flashed.
ASHFORD GLOBAL SHARES SUSPENDED.
MULTIPLE EXECUTIVES DETAINED.
GLOBAL BANK ACCOUNTS FROZEN.
Nathan grabbed the tablet.
His hands shook violently.
His empire wasn't collapsing tomorrow.
