Chapter 3 - THE SECRET SHE STOLE

Nobody spoke.
Not for several seconds.
Then Alejandro whispered:
“Camila?”
I looked at him.
“You sound surprised.”
“I am.”
“Are you?”
His face tightened.
“Yes.”
I laughed softly.
Because that was the problem with Alejandro.
He always believed the truth only existed when it hurt him.
“She had access to a confidential document inside my company.”
Alejandro shook his head.
“That doesn’t make sense.”
“No?”
“She doesn’t work there.”
“Exactly.”
My father took the tablet from me.
His expression changed.
Not anger.
Something colder.
Calculation.
“Someone gave her access.”
The room became heavier.
Because this was no longer about revenge.
This was about betrayal.
Inside my own company.
Inside my own family’s empire.
Alejandro looked at me.
“Valeria, I swear I didn’t know.”
I studied his face.
Three years.
I knew every expression.
Every lie.
Every excuse.
And for the first time…
I couldn’t tell if he was telling the truth.
That scared me.
My father looked at me.
“Are you ready for what comes next?”
I looked at the screen.
At Camila’s name.
Then at Alejandro.
“Yes.”
My father nodded.
“Good.”
“Because whoever helped her…”
He paused.
“Is probably closer than we think.”
And then my phone rang.
The caller ID appeared.
One name.
May you like
A name I never expected to see.
Camila Serrano.
