Chapter 6 – The Woman Behind the Mask
Julian confronted Victoria that night.
She didn't deny it.
Instead...
She smiled.
"You were never supposed to find the girl."
Julian's heart sank.
"You knew about Lily?"
"I've known for months."
She poured herself a glass of wine.
"Rose's journal would've destroyed everything my father spent thirty years building."
Julian stared.
"Your father?"
Victoria nodded.
"Victor Ashcombe."
"My uncle?"
She smiled wider.
"He isn't your uncle."
"What?"
"He forged the family records years ago."
Julian felt the floor disappear beneath him.
Victor wasn't part of the Ashcombe bloodline.
He had married into the family...
Then quietly taken control of it.
Every scandal...
Every disappearance...
May you like
Every suspicious death...
Led back to him.
