The stranger slowly walked down the stairs.
Everyone moved aside.
Lucas recognized her.
It was Clara.
Emma’s closest friend.
Someone who disappeared after Emma’s funeral.
Lucas stared at her.
“Where have you been?”
Clara looked at Vanessa.
“I was waiting for the right moment.”
Vanessa immediately became angry.
“You have no right to come here.”
Clara ignored her.
She handed Lucas the envelope.
“Your wife asked me to keep this safe.”
Lucas opened it.
Inside were documents.
Photos.
And messages.
His expression changed with every page.
Vanessa noticed.
And panic appeared in her eyes.
“Lucas, don’t listen to her.”
“She’s trying to destroy us.”
Clara looked directly at Lucas.
“No.”
“I’m trying to stop you from making the biggest mistake of your life.”
Lucas looked at the documents.
They showed Vanessa had been secretly meeting Emma’s former lawyer.
Why?
Because Vanessa had been searching for something.
Something Emma left behind.
