Chapter 4 — The Woman Behind the Perfect Smile

Chapter 4 — The Woman Behind the Perfect Smile

Richard returned home without warning.

He began watching Eleanor carefully.

The woman everyone loved.

The perfect wife.

The elegant hostess.

But behind closed doors…

She changed.

A servant accidentally dropped a glass.

Eleanor humiliated her.

A gardener trimmed a bush incorrectly.

Eleanor threatened to fire him.

Richard finally understood.

Eleanor wasn’t kind.

She was simply good at performing kindness.

That evening, Richard confronted her.

“Why was my daughter eating in the pantry?”

Eleanor didn’t panic.

She smiled.

“She misunderstood.”

“Misunderstood what?”

“That children need discipline.”

Richard stared at her.

“That wasn’t discipline.”

Eleanor leaned closer.

“You’re emotional because of Sarah.”

And that was when Richard knew.

Eleanor had just made the biggest mistake of her life.

She mentioned Sarah.
