CHAPTER 4 — The Ghost From The Past

CHAPTER 4 — The Ghost From The Past

Carter placed an old photograph on Vincent’s desk.

Vincent froze.

The picture showed a younger Harold.

But he looked nothing like the old man fixing Meredith’s sink.

He looked dangerous.

“He was called The Ghost,” Carter said.

Vincent remembered hearing that name as a child.

A man who was sent to kill his father.

But never did.

“Why?”

Carter opened another file.

“Because your father protected his daughter.”

Vincent stared at the photograph.

The man his father feared…

was the same man Meredith had invited into her home.

Then Vincent saw something else.

A small pocket watch.

The same watch his father kept until his death.

Engraved inside were five words:

Time is the most precious thing.

Vincent whispered:

“He saved my father.”

Carter nodded.

“And now Meredith saved him.”

For the first time in years…

Vincent felt something he thought he lost.

Gratitude.
