Chapter 13 - THE FINAL PIECE OF THE PUZZLE

The message on Alexander Kingston’s phone changed everything.

WE KNOW WHERE SHE IS.

For ten years, Emily Carter had searched for Noah.

Now, after finally discovering the truth, she realized someone had been searching for her too.

Alexander immediately turned to his security team.

“Lock down the property.”

The guards moved.

“Check every entrance.”

Emily stood frozen, holding Noah’s letter against her chest.

“He knew this would happen.”

Alexander looked at her.

“Who?”

“Noah.”

She looked down at the handwriting.

“He knew the moment I remembered, they would come after me.”

Alexander stepped closer.

“Emily, listen to me.”

She looked up.

“From this moment forward, you don’t go anywhere alone.”

She almost laughed.

“You sound like a bodyguard.”

“No.”

His voice became softer.

“I sound like someone who doesn’t want to lose you.”

The words surprised both of them.

For a moment, the danger outside disappeared.

Then Victoria Hale cleared her throat.

“We don’t have much time.”

Alexander turned.

“You said Noah contacted you.”

Victoria nodded.

“He knew the people responsible were watching him.”

“Where is he?”

She hesitated.

“That’s complicated.”

Emily’s heart sank.

“Why?”

“Because Noah didn’t want to be found until he had enough evidence.”

Alexander looked frustrated.

“Evidence against who?”

Victoria opened the folder again.

Inside were names.

Executives.

Investors.

Powerful people.

People who had built their careers on the Kingston empire.

Emily looked at the documents.

Then she saw one name.

Her face changed.

“No.”

Alexander noticed.

“What?”

She pointed.

“This man.”

Alexander looked.

His expression immediately darkened.

“You know him?”

Emily nodded slowly.

“He was the doctor who treated Noah when he was a child.”

Silence.

Victoria whispered:

“That doctor was part of the group.”

Emily felt sick.

All those years.

All those appointments.

All those people she trusted.

They had been watching them.

Alexander closed the folder.

“We find Noah.”

Emily looked at him.

“How?”

Alexander picked up the photo.

The picture of Noah from three months ago.

“He left a clue.”

Emily looked confused.

“Where?”

Alexander pointed to the background.

A building.

A sign.

A location.

Victoria’s eyes widened.

“No.”

Alexander looked at her.

“What?”

“That place…”

She swallowed.

“That was your father’s first research facility.”

Emily stared.

“The place where everything started.”

Alexander grabbed his coat.

“Then that’s where we’re going.”

Emily stepped forward.

“I’m coming.”

Alexander looked at her.

“This could be dangerous.”

She held Noah’s letter tightly.

“I spent ten years looking for my brother.”

A pause.

“I’m not stopping now.”

Alexander nodded.

Because he finally understood something.

Emily Carter was not the fragile waitress everyone ignored.

She was the person everyone had been afraid of.
