Chapter 6 - THE SECRET CHLOE NEVER TOLD HIM

Victor Russo had one rule.
Never let emotions control decisions.
But Chloe Bennett was becoming the one exception he couldn’t explain.
And that terrified him.
Because the closer she became…
The easier it became for someone to hurt him.
That afternoon, Victor discovered something.
Something hidden in Chloe’s background.
Something she never mentioned.
Her father’s name.
Michael Bennett.
Victor stared at the file.
Impossible.
Michael Bennett had worked for Victor’s father twenty years earlier.
And he wasn’t just an employee.
He was the man who disappeared after stealing information that nearly destroyed the Russo family.
Victor looked at Chloe’s photograph.
The quiet maid.
The exhausted sister.
The woman who accidentally fell asleep in his bed.
Could she really be connected?
That night, Victor confronted her.
“Your father was Michael Bennett.”
Chloe froze.
“How do you know my father?”
Victor watched her carefully.
“You tell me.”
She looked hurt.
“I was a child when he died.”
“Did he ever talk about the Russo family?”
“No.”
“Are you sure?”
Chloe’s eyes filled with anger.
“You think I knew?”
Victor stayed silent.
“You think I came here to spy on you?”
“No.”
“Then what?”
The truth was uncomfortable.
Victor didn’t know.
And that was the problem.
Because Victor Russo trusted evidence.
Not feelings.
Before he could answer, the mansion alarm exploded.
A guard rushed inside.
“Mr. Russo!”
Victor turned.
“What happened?”
The guard looked terrified.
“We found someone inside the basement.”
Victor grabbed his weapon.
“Who?”
The guard hesitated.
Then said:
“It’s a woman.”
Victor frowned.
“Name?”
The guard swallowed.
“She says she knows Chloe Bennett.”
Chloe’s face went pale.
“I don’t know anyone here.”
Victor looked at her.
Then toward the basement.
The woman inside shouted one sentence that changed everything.
“Chloe!”
Her voice echoed through the house.
“Your mother is still alive.”
Chloe stopped breathing.
Victor’s expression changed.
Because the enemy wasn’t attacking his empire anymore.
They were opening Chloe’s past.
And the truth waiting downstairs…
May you like
Could destroy them both.
