Victor Russo had built his empire around one rule.
Nobody touched what belonged to him.
But now someone had entered his home.
Someone had watched.
Someone had waited.
And somehow…
They knew Chloe Bennett was there.
“Mr. Russo?” Chloe whispered.
Victor ignored her.
His voice became cold.
“Check every camera.”
The man on the phone answered quickly.
“We already did.”
“And?”
A pause.
That pause told Victor everything.
“Someone deleted the footage.”
The room became silent.
Victor looked at Chloe.
She looked terrified.
Not because of him.
Because she finally understood something.
Her new job wasn’t normal.
Her boss wasn’t normal.
And the danger around Victor Russo was real.
Victor stepped closer.
“Tell me something, Chloe.”
She swallowed.
“Yes?”
“Who knows you work here?”
Her face changed.
Nobody had ever asked her that.
“I don’t know.”
“Think.”
“My brother knows.”
“Anyone else?”
She shook her head.
“I told my landlord I got a better job.”
Victor’s eyes narrowed.
“Who is your landlord?”
Chloe hesitated.
“Why?”
Because for the first time, Victor realized something.
The woman standing in front of him wasn’t just a random employee.
Someone had chosen her.
Someone had placed her inside his house.
And Victor Russo hated surprises.
Especially dangerous ones.
Before Chloe could answer, the mansion lights suddenly went out.
Complete darkness.
Then…
A gunshot echoed from downstairs.
Chloe screamed.
Victor grabbed her and pulled her behind him.
His body became a shield.
The same man everyone feared…
Was protecting the one person who feared nothing from him.
Victor whispered:
“Stay behind me.”
Chloe looked at him.
And realized something terrifying.
