Chapter 1: The Truth Behind the Smile

The ballroom remained frozen.

No one moved.

No one spoke.

The groom, Adrian Cross, stood beneath the altar lights with a face that no longer looked like a loving fiancé.

It looked like a man whose secret had just been dragged into the open.

The recording continued playing from the broken camera.

“Once I get control of her company, everything will belong to me.”

A wave of whispers spread through the guests.

The bride, Isabella Hart, felt her entire world collapse.

For two years, she believed Adrian was the only person who truly loved her.

He had comforted her after her father’s death.

He had promised to protect her family’s legacy.

He had held her hand and told her:

“I don’t care about your money. I only care about you.”

But now she was hearing the truth.

Every word had been a lie.

Adrian stepped forward.

“Isabella, listen to me. This is not what it sounds like.”

She looked at him with a heartbreak that was deeper than anger.

“Then what does it sound like, Adrian?”

He had no answer.

The little girl behind her, Lily, hugged the broken camera tightly.

“I tried to tell someone before,” Lily whispered.

Everyone looked at her.

“I saw him talking to another man. They were laughing about the wedding.”

Isabella slowly turned.

“Who was the other man?”

Before Lily could answer, Adrian suddenly grabbed her wrist.

“Enough.”

The room gasped.

Isabella immediately pushed him away.

“Don’t touch her.”

For the first time, Adrian realized something.

The woman standing in front of him was no longer the woman he could manipulate.

The bride who walked down the aisle was gone.

A woman who knew the truth had taken her place.

And she wanted answers.
