Grace stared at the photograph.
"My mother knew you?"
Nathaniel nodded slowly.
"She saved my life."
Twenty years earlier, Nathaniel was a young man with nothing.

Until a woman named Elizabeth helped him.
Grace’s mother.
"She told me one thing before she disappeared."
Nathaniel looked at Grace.

"My mother knew you?"
"Yes."
"Then why didn't you find me?"
Nathaniel looked away.
"Because I thought she died before telling me who you were."
