Chapter 15 - The Kitchen Door

Almost two years later...

I walked through the same industrial kitchen.

The same sink.

The same copper skillet.

The same heavy oak door.

This time...

A nervous new employee apologized for working too slowly.

I smiled.

"No one's invisible here."

She looked surprised.

Before leaving, I noticed the old deadbolt still attached to the kitchen door.

Once...

That lock had terrified me.

Now...

It reminded me of the moment my life changed.

Not because a billionaire rescued me.

But because someone with power chose responsibility over convenience.

Sometimes the question that changes a life isn't complicated.

It's simply...

"Who hurt you?"

May you like

And sometimes...

The person asking it is the first one who truly intends to help.
