Chapter 2: The Woman Who Erased a Life

No one moved.

Not Vivian.

Not the servants.

Not even Elena.

The only sound inside the mansion was the steady rhythm of rain pounding against the towering windows.

Vivian slowly placed her wineglass on a nearby table, forcing a confident smile back onto her face.

"You've misunderstood everything," she said smoothly. "Elena has been unstable ever since she disappeared. I gave her a place to stay."

Alejandro looked at her without blinking.

Then he turned to Elena.

"Look at me."

She hesitated.

Her shoulders trembled before she finally raised her eyes.

For three years, she had imagined this moment.

Now she could barely speak.

"They told me..." she whispered, "...that you had remarried."

Alejandro's expression cracked.

"Who told you that?"

Elena swallowed hard.

"Vivian."

The room became painfully quiet.

Vivian's smile stiffened.

Alejandro reached for Elena's hand.

She instinctively flinched.

The movement shattered what little control he had left.

His wife was afraid of being touched.

Not because of him.

Because someone had taught her to fear everyone.

"What happened to you?" he asked quietly.

Tears finally slipped down Elena's cheeks.

"The day you left for Madrid... I was drugged."

"I woke up in a private clinic."

"They told me I had suffered memory loss after an accident."

"They said you never came for me."

"They forged medical records... fake identification... everything."

"I tried to leave."

"They always brought me back."

Alejandro slowly turned toward Vivian.

For the first time in years...

He looked at someone with absolute hatred.

Just then, his head of security rushed through the front doors.

"Sir..."

He held out a thick folder.

"We found the original surveillance archives."

Alejandro opened the file.

The first photograph showed two men carrying Elena unconscious into a black van.

The second showed Vivian paying them.

The third...

Made every servant gasp.

It was signed by Alejandro's own younger brother.

Diego Castillo.
